Ok so im still writing this essay on how the health systems in france. However I do not understand how their health insurance works. So could someone explain it simply please. I understand that most of their Health expenses is covered by the state- but that is all i get.

There are two large maple trees in my backyard. They were planted when the house was built in 1955. Recently we had some plumbing work done on our house in the basement crawlspace and the plumber told us that the roots of the trees are starting to come into the basement. If they continue they will damage the foundation of the house. Is removing the trees something that my homeowners insurance will cover because they are damaging the house?If so what do I need to do to get them to cover it?

I work at big company, and they normally only let you change your insurance elections once a year, but I thought it was required that they let you cancel insurance at anytime? Assuming you don’t sign some sort of contact saying otherwise.

Does anyone have any info on this?

A gal at work is having some problems canceling her health insurance with the company we work for. Our company is saying she CAN NOT cancel her health insurance policy with BCBS since its not open enrollment. The reason she wants to cancel is because she got coverage with a different company. Is it legal for our company to say she CAN NOT cancel her policy??? How could she afford to pay for both!

I have 90 day disability at work, but I would like to know my mortgage is covered should I become disabled. I am single and do not have family, so am less worried about life mortgage insurance than disability. But, I don't want to waste money either.

Some states such as New York have disability insurance which is intended to Absence from work due to pregnancy and childbirth is covered 6 to 8 weeks of paid leave immediately prior to or after birth (longer if complications occur). However, are employers such in the State of New York, REQUIRED by law to have the insurance or is it optional?

And yes I know that companies must provide Workman's comp but I am interested in the extent to which employers are obligated to provide maternity benefits outside of the FMLA.

Let's say there's a family, and there's three different prescriptions for different medications within the family. Let's say the Dad is paying for health insurance. Do you just pay for health insurance once, when you register for it? Do you pay $20 monthly? Does the price you pay go up when you add more medications? I'm confused.

We just found out at work that they now have a private disability insurance company and not through the state. Can they change without tell any of us? We don't even know what we are entitled to if we need it. We only found out because on our pay stubs next to disability it says exempt.

I am a non-US citizen and need this information to do a case.

Specifically:
1) Is health insurance compulsory for everyone?
2) What happens if someone cannot afford it?
3) In the event that a medical procedure needs to be done, does health insurance cover all the bills? Does the patient need to pay anything extra?
4) Does the patient have any say over what kind of procedure he can take? Say if 2 treatments are available for his condition, can the patient choose the more expensive treatment? And if so, is it covered by the insurance?

I would like to further ask:

Does a health insurance contract state that it will only cover the "normal" rates for a procedure? For eg. if there are 2 possible treatments for a disease, 1 of which is more expensive but more effective than the other, will the patient only be covered by the LESS expensive one?

Or is it a case in which the patient can opt for the more expensive one and "top-up" the difference?

This is a crucial question to my understanding the case. Thanks!
