I am deciding which company to go with for my life insurance purchase. Wanted to make sure my spouse and child wouldn't be mistreated by the company should anything happened to me.

Say my parent has a life insurance policy, but depletes their assets and becomes eligible for medical assistance to pay for nursing home or medical costs. What happens to the payout to the beneficiary after that person's death? Is it even worth keeping up such a policy in that case? Thanks.

My husband and I are 28 years old, have three children and plan to have one more child in the near future. We live in Virginia (DC area). His annual earnings are about $70k; I also work part time earning annually about $35k. We currently have life insurance through our employers, but we want to get policies on our own. Can anyone recommend a good company to go with and a type of policy that we should get?
Also, should we get life insurance on our children? if so, what kind?
The goal that I want to accomplish with the life insurance is this. If my husband or I was to die, I would want my children to continue the same financial life that they would have had with both parents living. For this I am calculating that we need about a $2 million policy. After our children are grown, I would like for us to have a lower policy; just enough to cover the cost of bills and a little something to help the kids, I am thinking something around 200k.

My friend's father died recently. Twenty years ago, her father took out a small life insurance policy to pay for his funeral expenses. The beneficiary is my friend's stepmother. The stepmother doesn't even recall a life insurance policy. She wonders if he had cashed it out. How can my friend find out if a life insurance policy still exists? Those unclaimed fund sites don't usually include life insurance policies, and the life insurance company may not know that a death has occurred.

What is the difference between accidental death insurance and regular life insurance? Which is a better buy? Wouldn't all deaths (excluding illnesses) be accident? If you only buy life insurance and don't include accidental death insurance then what is usually excluded? Thanks!!!

My mother is 77, in good health. Lincoln financial offered her the following for $100k payment today: $175k life insurance policy and $250k of long term care insurance. That sounds like a good deal to me, is it?

I used to own whole life insurance until I learned the hard way about the truth behind it. A life agent said cash value was a great way to build savings for retirement and that I can use it anytime. That sounded pretty great and so me and my husband bought it. About 28 years later, he died in an accident. The life insurance paid the death claim about 30 days after I filed a claim. But all the cash value was gone! With the cash value, I could of used it for my retirement.

So now I got rid of my whole life and paid a surrender charge on the cash value. The mortgage is paid off and no one is dependant on my income anymore. So I don't need life insurance. I moved about $45,000 of cash value into various investments.

All I have to say to people buying life insurance is do your own research about life insurance before listening to life insurance agents.

I always see on Forensic Files and other shows about murderers, they are able to purchase a life insurance policy for their spouse or relative without the person's knowledge. Then they kill the person for the money. Why are they able to buy a life insurance policy without the person knowing about it? Wouldn't that prevent some murders if there were better procedures put in place?
The shows I am talking about are shows abotu real people and real murders. Forensic Files, Snapped, even dateline.

I'm talking about the Army, in particular. Is it term life insurance, or permanent life insurance?
As of right now, my husband's job doesn't put him on the front lines. I already know how much life insurance the policy is for.
