1 out of 5 stars It is not a book , but an trial software manual.   May 20, 2008

The book is a summary of the software that the author tries to sell you.br /Don't pay for this very bad book.br /Don't be stupid like me, because You will lose your money.br /

1 out of 5 stars The rating depends on what you expected - 30 day trial licence   May 18, 2008

As soon as I opened the book it turned out that I paid for 30 day trial version of the software on DVD. The descriptions in the book are just very thin user guide to the functions on DVD. I will return it, no doubt, only because I feel cheated.br /br /I think that the evaluation of the book depends on what you expect. Some people (like me) expected an academic/scientific type of book that presents the internal structure of the models and can serve as a reference when developing their own models. For such people this book will be a big disappointment.br /br /Another approach is to buy an analytical software package - if this is the case then the book serves the purpose. But it is a bit unusual to pay for the trial version (it should come for free). And it is very unusual not to say it openly.br /br /My biggest concern is however that by advertising the trial version of software package as a scientific book the Amazon compromised themselves for me. I lost faith in all the other official reviews (and the reviews on the blurbs) and will rely only on other readers' opinions.br /br /My first reaction was not to return the book. I thought I could use the software to make some calculations or as a reference when developing my own models. Unfortunately 30 day trial licence compromises such a thinking. That is why I decided to return the book. The book without the licence for the software on DVD is completely useless, as it serves merely as a user guide for the functions on DVD.br /

2 out of 5 stars Just say "nope."   May 3, 2008

In this book the author appears to have tried to make people *pay* for a sales demonstration of his products. Better off with Simon Benninga's Financial Modeling in Excel 3rd edition.

2 out of 5 stars A user manual for simulation tools.   May 2, 2008

If you are looking for a book to describe and articulate finical modeling, this is not for you. This book has very high level descriptions of many algorithms with screen shot examples of how to use the proprietary trial tools included with the book. br /br /In all, it's a lightweight manual for the author's company's tools. If you want to learn these proprietary tools and include them in your business, then this is a good place to start.br /
