After the denial of my initial application, I wrote a successful request for reconsideration myself based on the guidance and information provided in this book.br /Mr. Davis lays out precisely what information the Social Security Administration (SSA) disability evaluation analyst needs to approve a claim or appeal and how to amass that information so the applicant may provide it to them. br /I recommend you purchase and study this book prior to your initial application so you may understand the SSDI application and review processes and provide the SSA with the information they need to approve your claim, thereby avoiding the need to appeal.br /

This was a great little book, very helpful. So was the Nolo's Guide to Social Security Disability. These 2 are Must Have books for an applicant. Thanks Mike DAvis!br /br /I wish I had read it 7 years ago when I first applied for Disability. Perhaps it wouldn't have taken me all of this time, and a Federal Civil suit, to get approval. But I disagree with MR Davis: I think the SSA routinely denies applicants if they have too many claims on their desk. Denial must be a way to clean off their desk. That isn't Mr Davis's fault though. His book was very helpful.br /br /My only complaint on the book was that Mr Davis relied on abreviations too much. FO, ALJ, ADL, those sort of industry specific abbreviations should have been replaced with the full titles (Field Office, Administrative Law Judge, and Activities of Daily Living, etc). The vocabulary of the Social Security is confusing enough without having to continue to flip back to the cheat sheet to look these things up. But if you decide to stick to the cheat sheet scenario on your next edition, please put the cheat sheet on the last page so that it is easier to find.
