What is the best car insurance provider for young drivers?

by Insurance Pennsylvania on July 27, 2010

I have recently passed my driving test, and was wondering which car insurance provider is cheapest as most of them seem to be very expensive!

well, it depends. What car/litre you have? If you’re a boy, insurance is usually more expensive.. I had a 1.2 ford fiesta for my first car and was insured with Direct Line for over £1000 and that was the cheapest! I then got a 1.6 KA Sport a few months later and Direct Line just wouldnt insure on a 1.6 so im not with Admiral for about £600 a year – bearing in mind i have no no claims, £600 is very cheap!

Which jeans fit everyone best? Just like jeans, there’s no “one size fits all”. And just like cars, you can’t get something for less than it’s worth.

If you’re looking for $200 a year car insurance for a new driver, it’s not out there. For a new, young driver, it’s going to be much more expensive than an older, experienced driver. How MUCH? Well, that depends on what kind of car, and what coverages, not to mention where you live. If you’re under 20, most companies don’t run a credit check – you’re just automatically given the highest rates.

There’s no short cut. You have to shop around, to see who’s cheapest for YOU.

An addition to what mbrcaz said. If you have an account with your local credit union check with them to see if they have any discounts with car insurance providers. Many do have this type of thing which can save you uber money.

Good Luck

I had the same problem. I was quite young when I passed and most companies turned me down because I was younger than 21. Others were not even worth considering because the premium came to around $1000. I was recommended Privilege from a friend, as that was the cheapest, and I have been with them since. Bear in mind that most companies take into consideration your age, no claims bonuses etc, so try a few places for quotes before you settle for one.
