I am looking for any recommendations for companies offering short and long term disability insurace and what kind of disability insurance I would need. I am 24 married with no kids at the moment. My job is very low-risk and does not offer disability.

I have a work related injury-surgery coming up in September.It will be on Workers Comp, of course. But I also have been paying into Short Term Disability. Can i draw upon the STD to compensate for the short fall of income from Workers Comp?

I'm a successful part time entrepreneur in California, but I maintain my day job because of the group health insurance they offer. I'd like to cut the apron string and go out completely on my own, but the insurance situation holds these plans hostage.

I don't want to buy private health insurance, I would like to structure my one man business so that I can easily purchase group health insurance for myself and family. I'd like to purchase group insurance as opposed to private insurance so that I don't have to deal with preexisting conditions and riders, etc. Since I'm still a sole proprietor, I have plenty of leeway in regards to business structure, and I'm willing to change whatever is necessary to get the best deal possible.

How can I get health insurance for myself and family and pay for it as business expense without employees?

There are two large maple trees in my backyard. They were planted when the house was built in 1955. Recently we had some plumbing work done on our house in the basement crawlspace and the plumber told us that the roots of the trees are starting to come into the basement. If they continue they will damage the foundation of the house. Is removing the trees something that my homeowners insurance will cover because they are damaging the house?If so what do I need to do to get them to cover it?

I havent worked since July 2007 and then received disability for other reasons until october 2007.

I have had over thirty jobs, I usually do fine for about six months and then I start having anxiety attacks and have a manic episode, afterward, get severely depressed and cannot do anything then end up losing my job. I know that certain trade organizations offer discount health insurance under group rates if you join. However, I am unaware of any groups for a person who is self employed as an expeditor--a person who works in the urban planning field filing cases.
