Does Your Medical Insurance Cover What Your Car Insurance Does Not if You Were in a Car Accident?

by Pennsylvania Insurance on September 9, 2011

I was in a car accident and this guy without a license totaled my car. I had to go to the emergency room for medical care. My insurance will cover up to $5000 of the bill. Well the bill is about $8000. If they bill my is there a possibility they will cober the rest?

Your auto insurance does not cover your medical costs.

yep absolutely–it’ll just be like you have 2 insurance companies…your auto will be your primary insurance, and your medical will be your secondary. So just submit a statement from your auto insurance, a copy of the original bills, and a claim form for your medical insurance. :)

~~Yes, your medical insurance will cover. Just let them know what is happening, and they will handle it.~~

Yes your regular insurance will cover the rest BUT most likely not in full. You are most likely going to have a balance of some sort. But rest easy because doctor’s offices usually will set you up on a payment plan for any balance owed and hospitals most likely do the same.
