If your over 18 and just getting your drivers license, but don't have your own car, how does the insurance work? Using a relative's car. How does this work?

Your relative needs to make you a named driver on their insurance policy. They can do this either through the internet or ringing up their insurance company
Be aware though that this will make their yearly premiums shoot up. To put me on my mums insurance would cost an extra £340+ pounds. and that’s just until June. I’m a new driver myself but im over 21
You can either have your name added to the car owners insurance (with their permission of course),as an additional driver, or take out your own policy, although as a newly qualified driver, you will probably find that this is rather expensive.
if the vehicle is insured, you are insured. Unless you are explicitly excluded from the policy. If you live with someone who is insured, then in most states you should be insured under their policy as a “resident relative”
