Can You Receive Disability Insurance After Your Unemployment Expires?

by Pennsylvania Insurance on September 19, 2011

If you have been on unemployment for almost a year and your unemployment has now expired and a month or so later you become disabled can you receive ? Would the amount be based on your previous employer or what you received from your unemployment as your last highest quarter earnings?

if you mean SSI through social security maybe, at the state level it is called welfare, or do you have private disability insurance

No, you have to be actively working to qualify for disability coverage.

You will probably not be eligible since you will not be suffering a loss of wages. You might have qualified if your unemployment had not run out…
